On Saturday Mr. Anderson removed the rest of the tile floor in the kitchen.
Then he removed the laminate flooring upstairs.
And as if the brawn and heroism of one Anderson man wasn't enough, my FIL came over in the evening and peeled off all of the dirty, nasty, ancient, excessively-sticky, horrible contact paper from the closet shelves. Yay! (Plus, in yet another sign of love and generosity, he and his lovely wife brought us booze! Hooray! Three cheers for cold beer!)
So... for your pleasure... horrible shelves with wretched contact paper before:
Far less horrible shelves after:

I don't believe those sandals are approved for demolition.
Nope, they most certainly are not. Which is probably why he ended up with gashed up bloody legs and toes by the end of this.
That man. When will he learn??
This has nothing to do with the house (the floors look wonderful, by the way). However, if you're looking for something to do in Chicago, do I have an idea for you!
This information comes courtesy of the NUEA monthly e-mail:
Andy Wolf (C94) produced, AD'd, and acted in the feature film
"Dreammaker" which is in Chicago's IndieFest, August 3-11, 2006.
All screenings are at:
Village Art Theatre
1548 N. Clark St.
Screen 1: 8/5 - 2pm
Screen 2: 8/8 - 8pm; 8/11 - Noon
The film just won the Audience Favorite award at the Broad Humor Film Festival in Venice, CA. A spoof on Hollywood,
this ensemble dramedy weaves an engaging story of the film industry. We follow Esmerelda, "Psychic to the Stars" and her crazy Hollywood clients. In poignant vignettes, the talented
cast brings these characters to life - from the neurotic agent, the suicidal comic, the gay-in-denial assistant, to the nymphomaniac actress. At first one is not sure how any of the characters are related, but as the story progresses the mystery comes together, and with a twist ending all is revealed.
Please spread the word, and come out to support Indie filmmaking by an alum. After the screenings, we'll gather
locally for a meal and a discussion on filmmaking. For more
information, feel free to contact Andy: muppetfinder@yahoo.com
