My husband

It was pouring outside this morning. A miserable cold windy rain that no sane person should have to go out in. A rain that in LA would have surely had the city on “Stormwatch 2006” but in Chicago only gets a cheery, “Boy! If April showers bring May flowers, we’re going to get some serious bloomage this year!” from the morning weather man.

At around 8 am we pulled out the umbrellas and hustled to the bus stop across from our condo to get to work. Down the street we both noticed a female jogger running toward us at a full sprint. She looked determined: her back was straight, head held high, plus she was pumping her arms “power-jogger” style.

As she got closer it struck me -- crazy jogger lady wasn’t wearing any rain protection… and wasn't wearing any… pants. Seriously. I couldn't help but gasp. As she passed by us (revealing her little soggy white-cotton covered derriere) I whispered, “That woman isn’t wearing any pants! She’s running in her panties!”

Mr. Anderson also looked alarmed. He turned to me and said, “Did you see how she was running? She’s too high on her toes. She’s going to get some serious shin splints.”

Why, exactly, am I sitting in a cube?

When just a few days ago I was sitting on a beach with this view?

I'm thinking I should get a concert t-shirt - cut off so you can see my belly button.

Had a business trip to Phoenix last week, and we're off on vacation in Mexico tomorrow, so I'm spending the weekend in Scottsdale.

I've been out this way many many times before and never felt particularly connected to the area but this time it's different. The warm weather and western landscape have made me a bit homesick. (Plus Phoenix is beginning to feel like LA in some unpleasant ways too - there's ridiculous traffic, endless mini-malls, and thousands of leased BMWs on the freeways.)

One homesick moment I didn't expect: last night I borrowed my brother-in-law's pick up truck to pick up the man from the airport. It was a clear night with a gorgeous full moon cascading light across the desert. About 10 minutes into the drive I found myself driving with the windows down, warm wind blowing through the cab, with my head bobbing to Led Zeppelin.

That's right. You read it right. Me. In a pick up truck. Listening to Led Zeppelin. And it was, like, totally frickin' awesome.

Tomorrow on to... Puerto Penasco - Mexico!!!

Tough Times for JC

Poor Jesus. He's having a rough week.

First, we’ve discovered prayer doesn't help the sick, it might actually hurt them.

Then we find out Judas might have just been carrying out the big man’s orders when he sold Jesus out to the Romans.

Now scientists are telling us that Jesus didn't actually walk on water. He walked on ice.

And then he started getting all sorts of crap for having a myspace page.

Being a modern day savior is clearly not as easy as you might think. Good thing Easter is coming. He needs a little boost, don't ya think?

Home sweet... money pit?

We're considering buying a total dump house with "good bones" and "a lot of opportunity" and completely rehabbing it.

In order to prepare we're researching, reading, and checking out houses. The idea is sounds fantastic (particularly when I pour through a good issue of Metropolitan Home and drool over sleek kitchens) but I'm also nervous.

Mr. Anderson (being a generally handy dude) is feeling 100% equipped for this. I, on the other hand, have very few meaningful skills to offer. But I know what I like in home design, plus I'm terribly bossy, so I hoping that's gonna stack the chips in my favor a bit.
