When Daddy first plopped on the couch with Audrey and shared the importance of the Bears vs. Packers game, she was excited.
Then the game started and Daddy explained how the Bears were, I quote, "sucking ass".
Audrey's reaction...
Confusion.
Welcome to being a Bears fan, baby girl. It's not easy.

Fall pics
When M&B and their boys came out for the baby shower, we got a little taste of what the world might look like in 2009:
My last Bears game for this year...
And of course, I was proud the baby was there in spirit...

Not my best birthday.
I'm sick with a really awful cold, and the Bears just lost the Superbowl.
If it weren't for the yummy piece of chocolate cake I had a halftime this whole day would be utterly pathetic.
That's the magic of chocolate cake, people.

We're way past passion. This is mania.
As I drove to work this morning I noticed several kids walking to school bundled up in Bears hats and scarves. At my office there were dozens of people wearing jerseys. And as I drove home I was floored by how many cars were flying Bears flags. This is an amazing thing to be a part of. Even the city skyline is rallying for the Bears...

5 days till the Superbowl!
The original tailgater, Grandpa Anderson, was in the Chicago Tribune last week.
Bring this man the superbowl trophy!

We're off...
While the football forecast calls for "Good Rex" the weather forecast looks decidedly bad. To rally myself, I look (of course) to Ditka.GO BEARS!

Sunday Night
Look at this forecast for Sunday night, will you? I keep hitting refresh hoping it will change. "Potentially messy"? What on earth?
I love the Bears. Really, I do. Which is the only explanation why:
1) I would pay a ridiculous amount of money to get tickets and let them ruin my New Years Eve.
2) And then, return two weeks later for more abuse to watch them bounce back.
Look for me on TV will you? I'll be wrapped up in two pairs of long johns, jeans, three pairs of socks, two sweaters, a hoodie, and a big down jacket, plus a Bears wool hat (of course.)
Ok, wait. Nevermind. Don't look.

Christmas 2006
Good tidings to all of you out there in the blogosphere. Sorry for the lack of posts lately but I've been busy eating Christmas cookies and thinking very hard about how (really truly) I will (absolutely without doubt) start working out more in 2007.
While I'm in such a reflective mood, I thought I'd take some time to share a little list of things that have brought me great joy and comfort during this holiday season:
- All members of my family are safe and (relatively) healthy.
- My little brother and his lovely girlfriend got engaged.
- They also announced that in 7 months or so they will be supplying my parents with their first grandchild. (Wooo! Way to take the pressure off. Thanks R and H!)
- My dear friend Amy got engaged to a really fantastic guy that makes her smile like no other.
- The TEN PAIRS OF SHOES that I got at the Last Chance Nordstrom store in Phoenix. Every one of them a smokin' deal. (Hmmm, seriously considering moving that up to #1, but that's wrong, right?)
- The three warm desert sunsets that I have enjoyed here in Scottsdale with my gorgeous husband.
- The very special gift of a family heirloom that was given to me by my MIL while we were here with her for Christmas.
- Finally got some time to catch up with some of my favorite girlfriends for shopping/dinner.
- Got to meet little baby Andrews.
- The Bears vs. Packers Game at home at Soldier Field was moved to Sunday Night.
- I also received not one, but TWO, beautiful cashmere sweaters for Christmas. (Clearly I was good this year.)
- Even while a work-in-progress, my new house looks really cute at Christmas
- Did I mention Christmas cookies? Especially little almond tea cookies covered with sugar crystals. Mmmmm.
I hope your Christmas brought equal joy to you and yours.

Silver Lining
The Bears completely disappointed us this afternoon. But the tailgating was terrific as usual. Behold how the NFL's greatest fans in the greatest football city express their love for the greatest game...
1) It's not just a port-a-potty, it's a Ditka port-a-potty.
2) Look! Is that... Kyle Orton??! Well, given how loaded he is, he must think the Bears have another bye week.
3) Oh my. Look at this... this is worth the extra click to enlarge... and, know that the car is actually a Hearse.... Seriously.
4) Man down.

<<< Sigh >>>
Just came back from the Bears game. It was god-awful.
We've spent an entire season faithfully rooting for them, and in the end they played like... well... the Northwestern Wildcats.
(I know that was mean. I don't care. I'm depressed and angry.)
And to add insult to injury, when we got home, we found out that the Bears game went past the allotted TV time and so Tivo lost 15 minutes of the premiere of 24.
Boooooo.
Curling up into a ball now.

Holiday Greetings from Bear Country

When we moved from Los Angeles to Chicago a year ago, priority one for Mr. Anderson was getting a whole season's worth of Bears tickets. Sounded like a blast to me. Then winter came. Let me just say this -- never did I imagine a day where I would be standing in a frigid stadium, wind whipping at my face, wearing two pairs of long johns, two sets of socks, jeans, boots, three layered sweaters, a giant down coat, a hat, scarf, and two pairs of gloves screaming, "Cheeseheads suck!" at the top of my lungs.
I guess that officially makes me a Chicagoan now.
