Guest post: My hunt for a good $5 wine
Vanessa from Workaholic Mama seems to think my wine habit is actually healthy. Or she's at least an enabler, because this morning she posted a piece I wrote on finding a decent $5 red wine. Enjoy the reviews, and please note that if you stage an intervention for me I will demand video rights and all broadcast/syndication revenue.

More Data Needed
It appears that the more wine I drink the night before the less likely I am to pack a lunch for my husband in the morning. It could be me just making a correlation, but perhaps more study is needed to determine if this is actually a causal effect.

Apparently we are a filthy people.
Audrey caught her first bug at Christmas. Its a virus of some sort that has been brutal on her poor little stomach, and torture for her brand new parents.
There was a point in time we vowed we would not be those "neurotic" parents that required everyone to purrell their hands when coming within 5 feet of our baby. Apparently the joke is on us. If you plan on visiting anytime soon be warned you'll need to medically scrub in before you even breathe near her.

Strong evidence we will absolutely be nerd parents.
Exhibit A: When Audrey was fussing this morning my husband appealed to her with, "Listen, you need to go to sleep. This is important. I know you're feeling disorganized, but if you don't sleep we don't have harmony. We could plummet into chaos, which could eventually lead to anarchy and a Hobbesian state of nature. As a family, that's not what we want."
Exhibit B: Our little Aud ball does not like pacifiers. We've tried a bunch. Yesterday though we had some limited success with a model called the "Soothie". The Soothie is a strange little passie in that its made of very transparent rubber, and instead of a handy little ring for the baby or you to to grip on the end, its just hollow. (Side note: of course this is the one she's considering using, right?)
Anyway - the thing Mr. A immediately discovered is that if he looks at it from underneath, he can actually WATCH the mechanics of Audrey sucking with complete transparency. So, you can imagine how this went. Yes, baby science project #1. The Soothie Experiment:
It's like a messed up combination of "A Baby Story" and "CSI"

This is his brain on nesting...
Conversation with Mr. A this morning:
Me: "I had a horrible dream last night."
Him: "Me too!"
Me: "Really? What was yours?"
Him: "I couldn't get to the hospital. You had the baby and I wasn't there."
Me: "Oh no! Was everything OK? Was the baby OK? Was I OK?"
Him: "Uh huh. Yep. Then we went a robbed a hardware store."
