Bliss
We were predicting it would go another way, but its true - Jethro has taken to Audrey. He likes cuddle time particularly well. Her feet are good for scratchin'.

We're back. And since I last posted...
- Mr. Anderson's little brother graduated from college. (Congrats J!)
- Our good friends M & E shared with us that they're having a baby. (And they're coming to Chicago for the summer - which we're so thrilled about.)
- My best friend found out she's going to be promoted to a Vice President at her company (Go B!)
- None of the landscapers we had over to the house before our trip have called us back with estimates. (What is going to take to get the concrete off my lawn? What?)
- TIVO decided that I really needed to start watching Nickelodean and Spike TV. Lots and lots. Hmmm....
- Ringo has a new trick - one minute he's napping and then suddenly he'll jump up and run/leap around the house chasing nothing at full speed for no reason. (Reminder to self - he needs that annual vet exam pronto.)
- Our architect has made great progress and we are super close to having a plan for the house. (More on this later.)
- Oh, and I got a new job. It's a great business, a unique opportunity, much better pay, and (continuing the tradition of best friends going through things together) I'll be a VP too. On a more scary note, I'm going to have to start traveling to Denver weekly. (Whoooooooo.... Deeeeep breath.....)
- Considering the above, you can imagine it was an especially nice coincedence that I got to catch up with a high school girlfriend who happened to be in town and just recently completed her doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy. Hahahaaa (Congrats K!)

Yea, he's nuts all the time, but right now he's more nuts.
Ringo fans will be happy to know he's been unusually spry these days. In fact, he's goofing off in ways we haven't seen in years...
We're not sure what's going on. His meds are the same, and our routine is the same. Except we're opening up doors and windows now. Maybe it's just spring?
Oh, and Jethro fans will be unsurprised to know that he's exactly as he always is, that is, needy and grumpy.

R&J heart Dick Van Patten
Poor Ringo was left without his Nutro Chicken and Giblets.
Ringo: "This is bullsh$#t! Where's my gravy?"
I went to the pet store and (due to the fact that it was such a widespread recall) was stuck with only two choices: Science Diet, and Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance. (Really! Dick Van Patten - from Eight is Enough!) So come on, I had to go with the DVP. If its good enough for Tom Bradford, it's good enough for my boys.
Guess what? They love it. Who knew? Go DVP!!!

What did Ringo do?
So we had an enormous storm last night. A storm so big it was one for the record books.
While the rain pounded down outside, we were curled up in front of the tv for a little Monday Night Football.
BAM!!!
At about 10 pm the we were jolted out of our seats by an enormous crash from the back of the house. The floors shook. The sound thudded in my chest. The rush of adrenaline hit me and thought "Earthquake!" (Hey, 30 years+ in LA will do that to a girl.)
I looked at Mr. A. He looked at me. And we both thought it. What in god's name could Ringo have just done? Did he knock over the fridge for Christ's sake?
In the kitchen everything was fine. I told J to check the back sun porch (half expecting that the thing had fallen off the house.) He swung the door open and everything looked fine... until...
a flash of lightening hit.
HOLY SHIT.
In brief glimpse of lightning we could see it: the beautiful old giant tree from next door -- flatly laid across our yard. Squashing everything in its wake.
A few minutes later we lost power.
Later we came to realize it took out a little chunk of our roof. And the patio furniture. And our grill.
In a situation like that there's only one thing you can do -- crack open a bottle of wine. Or two.
Truth be told that grill sorta sucked anyway.
More photos of the scene on Flickr.

Highs and Lows of Fashion
High: My bluefly package arrived yesterday. A relief because inside the box was a dress I want to wear to a wedding this weekend.
Low: Tonight Ringo crapped on the skirt I was planning to wear to the rehearsal dinner.
Before you parents out there get up on your high horses and remind me that kids poop on everything yadda yadda yadda... I want to ask you this: has your child ever climbed up on top of your dresser, dropped his diaper, and crapped on your new pretty pink silk skirt because his dinner was two hours late?
I thought so.
He has landed himself squarely on the dead-to-me list.

Bring on March!
This evening in yoga our instructor mentioned that on Sunday we moved into the shiva moon cycle (or something like that). Basically it means that if you’ve found yourself grumpy and out of sorts lately – duh!—it’s because you’ve been moving into the shiva cycle of destruction. (Of course!!!)
Anywho, mostly I found this theory convenient to explain why February felt, well… sort of blahh to me. (And why, dear readers, I haven’t posted in a while.)
Or perhaps it’s just Februarys in Chicago. They’re cold, quiet, and full of bad impending Shiva vibes.
Ringo, being A-OK with this whole shiva-destruction thing, found a perfectly harmonious way to cope with February.
Man, I envy that beast.

Ringo Gives it Two Claws Up

Our friend Tim loaned us the movie "Winged Migration." If you've never seen it, it's a beautiful documentary that follows the migration of various species of birds throughout the world.
About 5 minutes into the film, we caught Ringo moving stealthily toward the screen, crouched down tiger-style, tail swishing and eyes narrowed. The cat was completely convinced a flock of Canadian geese was migrating right through his very own living room. You could tell he was fired up to bag one right then and there.
Needless to say we were doubled over trying not to laugh too hard. Mr. Anderson even cruely whispered, "Get those birdies Ringo" a few times to drive him on. After a few confused meeows, and some pacing back and forth, he finally just squatted on the ottoman to watch the ellusive geese from a distance.
Poor Ringo. Those damn geese are tricky.
